It was when he was working for a craftsman who made artificial flowers that François Godebski discovered polyester resin, an element that he used for various sculpture. But the artist is a jack-of-all-trades and does not concentrate on a single material; he creates works made of all sorts of elements, form electronic circuits to sculptures in fractal resins, for which he is best known.
His works are part of the New Realist movement, his first sculptures date from 1962 and his approach is considered avant-garde.
In 1983, François Godebski founded the Fédération autonome des artistes du sud (F.A.D.A.S) and then for three consecutive years, from 1984 to 1986, he organised Boulev'Art, an exhibition that took place during the Nîmes feria.
Some of the artist's works can be found in the streets of Nîmes.
INA went to meet the artist in 1971.
